POSITION:   Tradesperson Mechanic

TYPE: Permanent, Full-time (10 hours/day, 4 days/week)

LOCATION:    LSKYSD Bus Garage - North Battleford, SK

START DATE:    As soon as possible

COMPENSATION:   $24.27 per hour starting wage

Salary, benefits and pension are in accordance with the current CUPE agreement

Living Sky School Division is looking for a skilled and dedicated Tradesperson Mechanic to join our team in our bus garage. This position plays a key role in keeping our transportation services running smoothly and efficiently.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on school buses to ensure the safety and reliability of our fleet. If you are someone who is dedicated to safety and wants to contribute to the success of students, please read on!

About the Position

Typical responsibilities of a Tradesperson Mechanic include:

• performing scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire inspections.
• conducting routine safety checks and inspections to ensure all buses meet regulatory and operational standards.
• diagnosing and completing minor mechanical repairs on engines, brakes, lighting, and other vehicle systems.
• maintaining accurate records of services performed and parts used.
• assisting with and responding to on-road breakdowns when necessary.

• collaborating with a team to maintain a high standard of fleet readiness and to contribute to the overall success of the school division.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Previous experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably with gas and diesel engines or school buses, is considered an asset.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5 required, Class 2 with “S” endorsement considered an asset).
