This posting is for a Temporary Full-Time (1.0) FTE Educational Assistant Position at McKitrick Community School commencing August 26, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027.     Educational Assistants are an important part of the school team and promote engagement, participation and success of students.  The successful applicant will support core subject areas in both small groups and in the classroom.

  This Educational Assistant position will be supporting our students involved with our Specialized Support programming. The candidate will need to have prior knowledge of trauma informed educational practices, crisis intervention and de-escalation tactics, and strong emotional regulation. This position includes small group intervention for students who struggle with emotional regulation and have displayed aggression. The candidate will also have an understanding of First Nations history and values which will serve our student in a culturally responsive manner.   

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education with at least one (1) year relevant childcare experience
• Post-secondary certificate from a recognized institution in Early Learning & Childcare, Youth Care Worker or equivalent program would be considered an asset
